Microsoft and Citrix Founding Teams

I couldn’t resist this. I’ve recently found the original Microsoft team photo on Wikipedia and thought it would be fun to compare the two companies pictures.

Citrix 1989

Eleven years can make a big difference in fashion and hair! I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

I was looking for old Citrix pictures on the web and found a link to Gordon Letwin. Gordon was the lead architect for Microsoft on the OS/2 project. Ed Iacobucci was the lead architect for OS/2 on the IBM side. Ed left IBM in 1989 and Gordon left Microsoft in 1993. I’m guessing that they worked together quite a bit. I would also suppose that this would have happened between 1985 and 1989. Many years ago I bought a copy of Inside OS/2 by Gordon Letwin.

Inside OS/2

You have got to love the cave like appeal with the soft glow of CRT nearby. This cover appealed to me since it really captured the nature of a developer on the track of a really difficult bug. I’m guessing that he was running some variant of CodeView on the screen that he is looking at.

This post was just for fun. Please enjoy.

OS/2… great piece of software. I still use it at home.

I’m sure Gordon would be proud to hear this, as would the old-time IBMers that stood behind it.
    Thanks for your reply.
